The news of Haseena’s divorce in the US and homecoming after 20 years has created quite a sensation among the residents of her lower class native neighbourhood in Pakistan. No one is more excited than her one-time admirers and two rivals Babu the butcher and Kallu the milkman. Now, the rivalry returns. Even the local crackpot Chacha Patakha and the otherwise decent-looking Professor Sb. are driven crazy. This old time story is so exciting that it over shadows the youthful romantic confusion involving the local barber, Maria (Babu’s daughter) and high-thinking Amir (Professor Sb.’s son). Haseena is one of these very people. She knows that running after drifting kites has always been their favourite free-time sport. Haseena invokes her past tricks and exploits the craze to her personal advantage. |
